Foundations of Working with Children

This course builds counselling confidence and skills in people working with children aged 4-11 to provide age appropriate and child friendly services. Participants will receive a resource kit and manual after the training.

KidzWhoTest

This course is for HIV counsellors, doctors, nurses and healthcare workers who test children for HIV or for any other chronic disease. The course trains participants to use a fun-filled, non-threatening 'Talk-Tool' to guide a child and their caregiver through an age-appropriate process of HIV testing and disclosure.

KidzLiteracy

HIV-infected children and their caregivers have many questions about how to manage their HIV disease. KidzLiteracy trains health workers to use a play and story based curriculum that will help caregivers and children with practical, age appropriate answers to their questions.

Caregiver Support Intervention

A practical course that trains facilitators of support groups, NGOs or health facilities to assist caregivers of HIV infected children to address the barriers that prevent them from testing and disclosing to their children. Caregivers who complete this intervention report reduced anxiety, increased emotional resilience, and increased confidence to journey with their children through the processes of HIV testing, disclosure and management.

IMCI (Integrated Management Childhood Illnesses)

IMCI is an integrated approach to child health that focuses on the well-being of the whole child. IMCI aims to reduce death, illness and disability, and to promote improved growth and development among children under five years of age. It includes both preventive and curative elements that are implemented by families and communities as well as by health facilities.

Lactation Management

This course is intended for all healthcare providers to confidently support breast fed infants and their breast feeding mothers. This supports WHO nutrition strategy promoting exclusive breast feeding for 6 months.

Infant and Young Child Nutrition in the context of HIV/AIDS

Compelling and sustained research results have culminated in exciting and revised WHO guidelines that give clear and concrete guidance to governments and facilities. This training provides skills to healthcare workers and trainers to confidently counsel and advise women living in HIV infected communities, regarding infant and young child nutrition.

Introduction to HIV and AIDS

This course is offered to Corporates, Schools, Health Providers, NGOs and members of the general public. It provides an up to date overview of HIV in communities, and what information is vital to assisting friends, family, colleagues and patients who are navigating the realities of HIV.

Comprehensive Guide to HIV Counselling and Care

This course is intended for the general public, HIV counsellors and Healthcare workers who need skills and updated information about care and counselling of HIV infected individuals. This course includes all the outcomes of the original 10-day HIV counselling course, but with additional information to ensure that a comprehensive service is offered to HIV infected clients.

Adherence Counselling

This course is intended for healthcare workers preparing and supporting patients for chronic medication, and in particular, patients on lifelong HAART.

Setting up HIV/AIDS Care and Treatment Services

This course is offered to HIV services managers, facility managers or NGOs wanting to improve or expand HIV services. The course provides technical, practical and theoretical skills needed to run a well functioning HIV service.

Confident Communicators

This course is offered to Schools, Corporates, NGOs and Health workers. It builds on existing communication skills to improve confidence and self-worth that results in better presentation skills, negotiation, conflict management and staff management skills. The course material includes short sessions, as well as longer, more regular and focused interventions.
